There are 4 possible configurations, where left is proton spin and right is electron spin: |-½>|-½> = (1) |-½>|+½> = (2) |+½>|-½> = (3) |+½>|+½> = (4) But (2) and (3) are kinda the same, so they're like 1 state that is the average between them because we don't know which one it is. ½ ( (2) + (3) ) But it's actually √½ because math and circles. √½ ( (2) + (3) ) This expression means the average probability of states (2) and (3) because they're kinda the same.
